The European Former Leaders Group is an informal gathering of European statesmen - former heads of state, heads of government and ministers - all of whom played an important part in the development of European the Middle East conflict in the past.

Spearheaded by Chris Patten and Hubert Védrine in 2009, the group initiated a joint effort to promote a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The initiative echoes a similar endeavor by a US bipartisan group launched a few months earlier. The EFLG seeks to identify concrete steps that could be taken by the EU to support timely progress towards the shared goal of Middle East peace.
